Lagos State University (LASU) has implemented a tuition fee adjustment for newly admitted students, impacting both Stream 1 and Stream 2 categories. Under the revised fee structure, Stream 1 students are now obligated to pay N90,000, while their Stream 2 counterparts are required to remit N180,000. This adjustment marks a significant change in the financial obligations for students entering the university.
In addition to the tuition fee modifications, LASU has introduced a procedural change for new students related to matriculation. Upon successful completion of their clearance process, fresh entrants are now mandated to generate their matriculation number before initiating the payment of tuition fees. This step adds an administrative layer to the enrollment process, aiming to streamline and formalize the payment procedure for new students.
The decision to revise tuition fees and alter the matriculation process comes as part of LASU’s ongoing efforts to ensure financial sustainability and improve administrative efficiency. University authorities assert that these changes are essential for maintaining the institution’s commitment to providing quality education while adapting to the evolving financial landscape.
While the adjustments may pose financial challenges for some students and their families, LASU emphasizes that the revised fee structure is necessary to uphold the academic standards and overall operational integrity of the institution.
The university encourages students and stakeholders to stay informed about these changes and seeks to address any concerns through open communication channels in the interest of fostering a transparent and collaborative academic environment.
