The Vice Chancellor of Wigwe University, Miles David has emphasized the institution’s dedication to nurturing future economic leaders and contributing to the prosperity of Nigeria.
This was unveiled in an exclusive interview with ARISE NEWS on Wednesday.
Davis outlined the university’s distinctive approach, highlighting the establishment of a comprehensive structure geared towards empowering students to initiate and lead enterprises upon graduation.
“We are committed to developing future economic leaders and entrepreneurs who will contribute to the growth of our economy, fostering independence rather than dependence. What sets Wigwe University apart is our commitment to building an institution that not only educates but also shapes future leaders, dedicated to promoting prosperity in the country,” stated Davis.
Davis emphasized the importance of fearlessness in facing challenges and recognized the need for individuals to move forward despite the obstacles.
He articulated the university’s vision, aiming beyond conventional job placements. Instead, Wigwe University aspires to witness its graduates launching enterprises, with a tangible incorporation of this goal into the university’s structural framework.
“Our vision is lofty but attainable. We want to see graduates not merely securing jobs but stepping into the realm of entrepreneurship. We have integrated support mechanisms within the university structure, providing financial backing and mentorship to help students realize their entrepreneurial dreams. Our goal is to foster leaders who not only excel in business but also contribute to leading the nation,” explained Davis.
Despite the dynamic vision, Wigwe University, still in its probationary license period under the National Universities Commission (NUC), currently refrains from admitting international students. Davis affirmed the university’s commitment to complying with Nigerian laws and regulations, ensuring full alignment with the NUC license.
Looking ahead, Wigwe University plans to explore opportunities to attract the best and brightest international minds while maintaining steadfast adherence to regulatory requirements.
