A 300-level economics student at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Ifeoluwa Adekunle, was discovered brutally murdered in her off-campus apartment on Saturday.
The gruesome discovery was made when friends and neighbors found Ifeoluwa in a pool of her own blood, raising suspicions of a potential cult-related crime. The tragic incident has left the university community and local residents in a state of fear and concern.
According to a source within the community, the assailants, yet to be identified, allegedly visited Ifeoluwa’s room and took her life.
Contrary to speculations, the source dismissed claims that the incident was cult-related, urging authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter.
“We found her in the pool of her blood in her room. She was stabbed to death by yet-to-be-identified persons who came visiting. We know this is not a cult-related issue as some people are propagating,” the source explained.
“We have reported the case to the police. We are imploring the Ondo State Government to please look into the matter and ensure that the deceased gets justice.”
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the tragic incident, revealing that an investigation is underway unravelling.
Despite uncertainty about the motive, Odunlami assured that the police are dedicated to unraveling the circumstances surrounding Ifeoluwa’s untimely death.
“She was killed but her corpse had been moved to the hospital’s morgue, and we have begun our investigation on the case. We are not sure if it’s a cult-related activity because she was murdered in her room situated off the campus, but our investigation is going to unravel the cause,” Odunlami stated.
