Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has initiated the “Educational Cash Award For Student Help,” providing a lifeline for approximately 60,000 students hailing from the state across various tertiary institutions nationwide.[
This state-sponsored intervention program aims to alleviate the financial burden on students in both public and private primary and secondary schools, as well as tertiary institutions. Governor Abiodun unveiled this educational palliative as part of the state’s comprehensive strategy to mitigate the adverse effects of the current economic climate on students and their families.
Under this commendable initiative, each student with Ogun State origin is entitled to receive a substantial N50,000 cash award directly from the state government. The Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Abayomi Arigbabu, confirmed this impactful move, emphasizing that students in both public and private tertiary institutions will be the beneficiaries of this generous cash award.
Moreover, the state government is targeting an additional 10,000 indigent students in public primary and secondary schools across the three senatorial districts, ensuring they receive a notable N10,000 each as well.
This dual approach reflects the government’s commitment to addressing educational challenges at both the tertiary and foundational levels.
Expressing their gratitude, some students have already confirmed receiving the N50,000 award and have showered encomiums on Governor Dapo Abiodun for his thoughtful gesture.
