The National Examinations Council (NECO) has taken strides to expand its reach beyond Nigeria’s borders by accrediting the Nigeria International School in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as a center for conducting the Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) internally.
Led by the Minister of State for Education, Yusuf Sununu, and the Registrar of NECO, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi, a delegation from NECO embarked on a visit to the Nigeria International School in Jeddah to assess its suitability for hosting the SSCE examinations.
Following a thorough evaluation of the school’s facilities and an interactive session with its management and staff, NECO granted full accreditation to the institution.
In an official statement released by NECO, Sununu emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards and encouraged the school’s staff and students to uphold Nigeria’s reputation as ambassadors, not only in Saudi Arabia but throughout the Gulf States Cooperation Council.
Wushishi, in his remarks during the visit, highlighted the significance of school accreditation in ensuring that educational institutions possess adequate infrastructure and facilities conducive to conducting examinations. He elaborated on NECO’s role in maintaining educational standards and fostering an environment conducive to learning.
The delegation was warmly received by the Consular General, Bello Kazaure, and the proprietor of the Nigeria International School, Abdulkadir Maikudi, along with other staff members. The visit also included a stop at the Nigeria House in Jeddah, where the minister and the NECO registrar engaged in discussions with the Consular General and consulate staff.
