The International Academy for the Gifted, in partnership with the Ogun State government, has initiated a quest to identify and nurture over 1,000 secondary school students exhibiting outstanding academic prowess.
This endeavour, disclosed in a statement by Programme Coordinator Prof. Adewale Solarin, targets students inclined towards Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) subjects.
The primary objective is to cultivate these students into global leaders, establishing collaborative networks between Nigerian universities, academics abroad, and leadership development agencies. Prof. Solarin emphasized the utilization of tailored instruments, including aptitude tests and puzzles, to identify gifted youths.
Scheduled for April 5 at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, the program’s format encompasses a nationwide online STEAM competition for approximately one million Junior and Senior Secondary School students. This competition spans three stages: Aptitude Test, followed by assessments in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Art subjects. The top 1,000 performers will advance to a Guinness World Record Event.
Subsequent stages involve intensive training camps for selected participants, culminating in the recognition of exemplary talents in various STEAM disciplines. Prof. Solarin reassured the public of stringent security measures in place for the event.
