The 1999 Alumni Association of the Obafemi Awolowo College of Health Sciences, which graduated from the College of Health Sciences at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, has renovated the OOU Glass House lecture hall and donated teaching aids to the institution.
The hall was commissioned during the alumni association’s celebration of its 25th year post-qualification from the college.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Vice-Chancellor of OOU, Prof Ayodeji Agboola, praised the contribution of the OACHS 1999 alumni to the university, noting that this project is the first of its kind by an alumni association, and encouraged other sets to emulate this achievement.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of OACHS 1999, Dr John Akinola, stated that the renovation included the replacement of the ceiling, lighting, and electrical fittings; the provision of benches and tables; the replacement of windowpanes; and the painting of the building’s interior and exterior. Additionally, teaching aids—including a public address system, projector, and whiteboards—valued at approximately N22,000,000 were donated.
Akinola noted that OACHS 1999 also donated bedsheets to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in 2023 and mentioned the contribution of a class member, Dr Muyiwa Abdul, who donated a paediatric ward to OOUTH in 2022.
“The renovated building, commissioned by Prof Agboola, is dedicated to enhancing the learning environment in the pursuit of excellence in health sciences,” the statement added.
