Japan-based companies Kawasho Foods Trade Corporation and JFE Shoji Corporation have donated vital educational materials to 10 public basic schools in Oyo State, Nigeria.
The significant contribution includes 11,000 exercise books, 360 desks and benches, and 150 cartons of canned food products, aiming to enhance the learning environment for students across the state’s three senatorial districts.
At the official presentation ceremony in Ibadan, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), expressed profound gratitude for the companies’ support.
“The furniture will improve the pupils’ sitting posture and comfort, while the exercise books will provide writing materials for the pupils, particularly the indigent ones, thereby enhancing their academic performance,” he noted.
Dr. Adeniran also highlighted the donation as a positive example for other multinational companies operating in Nigeria, encouraging them to invest in the future of the country’s children. He assured that the materials would be used effectively and called on the teachers of the beneficiary schools to reciprocate the gesture with diligence and dedication.
Mr. Murata Kotaro, the Africa representative of the corporations, shared insights into their ongoing commitment to supporting education in Nigeria since 2011.
“The provision of notebooks, desks, and benches each year is to support children’s education, while Geisha canned foods are donated to support the pupils’ diets,” he explained.
The selected schools benefiting from this initiative include F.O.A. Primary School II in Ibadan, Salvation Army Primary School in Yemetu Barracks, and Sacred Heart Primary School in Oke-Ayo, among others.
The event was attended by key figures such as Mrs. Olaide Ladipo, the Executive Secretary of the Board, and Mr. Agboifo Henry, the country representative of the company.
