Dr Bodunde Samuel has been elected as the new President of the Lagos State chapter of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS).
It could be recalled that the election of the new leaders followed the suspension and dissolution of the former Lagos State executive committee led by Chief Alaka Yusuf.
Dr Bodunde was elected President of Lagos State NAPPS alongside other officers of the association at an election held at Fit-Joy Academy Event Hall and witnessed by the Otunba Safiriyu Idowu Ganiyu, representing the Board of Trustees (BOT), and the National President of NAPPS, Otunba (Dr) Yomi Otubela.
Other officers elected included Chief Mrs Yetunde Balogun (Shomolu chapter) as Vice President; Mr Yusuf .A. Ibrahim (Agege chapter) as Secretary; Mr Adebisi Olabisi (Ajeromi Ifelodun chapter), Financial Secretary and Mr Olawale Cardozo, (Lagos Island) as Treasurer.
In a goodwill message on the occasion, Otunba Safiriyu Idowu Ganiyu emphasized NAPPS’ commitment to transparency, accountability, and loyalty.
He, therefore, charged the new leaders to adhere to the organization’s rules and regulations, as mandated by the CAC-approved NAPPS 2023 Constitution just as he urged the new exco to prioritize transparency, accountability, and loyalty to NAPPS, ensuring the continued growth and success of the organization.
Otunba Ganiyu warned them to recognize and respect only CAC-recognized incorporated trustees, upholding the legitimacy of the organization’s governance structure.
“This significant shift in leadership underscores the importance of transparency, accountability, and loyalty within the organization. As NAPPS Nigeria moves forward, all stakeholders must work together, prioritizing the growth and success of the organization.
To all chapters in Lagos State, he said, “I am compelled to address a pressing matter that has come to our attention. The recent restriction on bank accounts of illegal factions which includes Lagos and Ekiti states and illegal factional National bodies has understandably caused concern among some of our local chapters.
“However, I must strongly advise against any chapter using private accounts to manage association funds. This is unauthorised and poses significant risks to the chapter and its members. Instead,
“I urge all chapters to revert to using their designated association accounts and to fill out the loyalty form, affirming their commitment to the legitimate NAPPS organization.”
He warned that any chapter that fails to comply with this directive will be held responsible for their actions.
NAPPS Lagos President, Dr Bodunde on behalf of the new exco pledged not to let down on the confidence reposed in them.
He pledged to ensure openness, accountability, prudence, partnership with stakeholders and embark on capacity development for members.
“I will promote one NAPPS, treat all members equally, promote all NAPPS activities, and elevate the association’s image. We will exceed your expectations and make NAPPS in Lagos better,” Bodunde assured.
Otunba Otubela, NAPPS National President warned members that the association will no longer sit back and watch its name go into tatters but rescue it from the jaws of the opposition.
He assured that the efforts of NAPPS nationally and at state levels will be sustained to ensure that the average Nigerian child gets a good education.
