The University of Abuja (UniAbuja) has approved the promotion of 154 staff members to various ranks, marking a significant step in fostering academic and professional excellence.
The promotions were endorsed during the institution’s 98th Governing Council meeting held on December 10, 11, 12, and 14, under the chairmanship of Saddiq Kaita.
According to a statement released by the university on Thursday, 60 academic staff were elevated, including 19 promoted to professor, 14 to associate professor, 20 to senior lecturer, six to lecturer one, and one to lecturer two. Among the non-teaching staff, 94 individuals advanced to new ranks, with two promoted to deputy director, six to assistant director, and others across various grades.
Acting Vice-Chancellor Aisha Maikudi, in her congratulatory message, praised the promoted staff for their dedication, hard work, and discipline. “These promotions reflect the University of Abuja’s commitment to fostering excellence, recognising merit, and encouraging growth among its staff,” she stated.
She assured that the institution remains devoted to timely promotions for deserving staff, emphasizing transparency and fairness. “All outstanding backlogs of promotion cases have been meticulously reviewed and resolved, ensuring fairness and recognition for deserving staff. The remaining cases are now awaiting external assessment reports,” Maikudi added.
The acting vice-chancellor urged the newly promoted staff to continue their contributions towards the university’s vision of academic and professional distinction.
