In a bid to reduce the number of out-of-school children and promote the girl child education in Adamawa State, the Nigerian Army Officer’s Wives Association has unveiled for use, a block of four classrooms in Yola.
The classrooms are furnished with modern facilities of learning with visual and non visual aids.
While inaugurating the model school on Thursday at the 23 brigade, Gibson Jalo Cantonment Yola, the National President of the Association, Mrs Mernan Femi Oluyede commended the 23rd Brigade for keying into NAOWA’s vision of promoting the welfare of children of officers, soldiers and the host community through education.
Represented by the chairperson 3rd Division, Jos chapter of the Association, Mrs. Fibishola Abubakar, the president, stressed the need to promote education, which she said is the bedrock of success in life.
“It is our desire to provide good and quality education for the children of our officers and soldiers who left their homes to secure our dear country as well as contribute to the development of our host communities.”
In his remark, the Commander, 23 brigade, Brigadier General Paul Zawaya said that the best legacy that any institution can give to the society is education, pointing out that his command embraced the Nigerian Army’s vision of giving welfare to its officers, soldiers and host community through quality education for their families.
He commended the Chief of Army Staff Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede for providing the needed support for the success of the project.
Earlier in her welcome remarks, the Zonal Coordinator of NAOWA, the wife of the Brigade Commander, 23 Brigade, Mrs Comfort Zawaya commended the chairperson 3 Division chapter for giving her all to the needed moral support and encouragement while the project was on.
“I am happy today that this project, which started about six months ago, is completely ready, and it’s being inaugurated today,” Zawaya stated.
