1. FUOYE was established in 2011 by the Federal Government of Nigeria alongside other universities, during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

2. The university operates from two campuses located in Oye-Ekiti and Ikole-Ekiti, both in Ekiti State, South-West Nigeria. Oye serves as the main campus, while Ikole houses additional faculties.

3. The Chancellor of the University is Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni, The Attah of Igala Kingdom.

4. FUOYE’s motto is “Innovation and Character for National Transformation,” reflecting its commitment to producing well-rounded graduates who contribute meaningfully to society.

5. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across various disciplines with 8 Faculties and 59 Departments.These include sciences, arts, engineering, social sciences, education, and more.

6. FUOYE was officially opened in 2012 for academics. FUOYE’s programmes are accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), ensuring adherence to national and international academic standards.

7. The current Vice-Chancellor of the institution is Prof. Abayomi S FASINA.

8. The pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, waa Professor Chinedu Nebo.

9. In 2014, FUOYE was adjudged 153th position among 1306 institutions in Africa.

10. As of 2025, FUOYE has an estimated student population of over 30,000, making it one of the fastest-growing federal universities in Nigeria.
