The World Food Programme (WFP) has opened applications for its 2024 Innovation Challenge: Relief & Resilience. This initiative seeks groundbreaking innovations aimed at providing relief, enhancing resilience, and combating hunger.
Benefits:
Successful applicants can receive up to $100,000 in equity-free funding, with the possibility of additional funding based on progress and the achievement of key milestones. Participants will collaborate with WFP’s extensive network of partners and field operations across more than 120 countries. Those demonstrating scalable and impactful innovations may receive further support and funding. Additionally, selected teams will have access to technical and industry mentors and will participate in a WFP Innovation Bootcamp and Pitch Event, designed to accelerate their progress and refine their innovations.
Eligibility:
The challenge is open to both startups and WFP employees. Startups must be incorporated at the time of application and can be either for-profit or non-profit. Innovations should be at least at the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) stage, with proof-of-concept and initial traction preferred. Financial viability and alignment with WFP’s long-term strategy are also essential. For WFP employees, the application requires evidence of Country Office support and management buy-in, and collaboration with NGOs, government, or private sectors is encouraged.
Application process:
Interested startups and companies should apply through the designated application portal provided by WFP. The process involves submitting the required documents, outlining the innovation’s potential impact, and demonstrating its alignment with the WFP’s objectives. For WFP employees, a separate application link is available, which requires similar documentation and evidence of collaboration with external partners. Apply here.
Application deadline: Ongoing.
