The management of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi has stepped up the development of research capacity among its staff.

Arewa PUNCH learnt that this is a drive towards preparing its young academics for future challenges and opportunities in their academic career.

To achieve that, a 2-day training programme was organised by the Directorate of Research Innovation and Development of the university.

Speaking at the event, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Sani Usman Kunya explained that, the workshop was another milestone for the university, even as he urged the participants “to make judicious use of what they learn especially at this challenging time.”

He added, “The participants must be informed that the university is not a place to gather riches but to sacrifice and contribute your quota in terms of research for the development of the country.”

Kunya said, “The two days of intensive training were not about deliberations only, but gaining knowledge and using it to come up with models of training other students to change the current narrative.”

Also speaking, the Director of Research and Development of ATBU Bauchi Professor Fatima Sawa, hinted that “The 150 young academics were carefully selected for the workshop training to cope with the current reality as the world has now turned into a global village.
