Babcock University, located in Ilisan-Remo, Ogun State, has joined forces with the prestigious British Council and two other organisations to provide extensive training to students in various digital skills.
This collaborative effort falls under the purview of Babcock University’s Centre for Open Distance and e-Learning.
The comprehensive training program covered an array of critical digital domains, including web design, 3D animation, graphicdesign, full stack development, network security, and advanced data analysis. This strategic collaboration aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Mobolanle Sotunsa PhD, the Director of the Centre, highlighted the institution’s commitment to staying at the forefront of digital education. She stated that the centre had secured a training grant from the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) last year, facilitating the implementation of this cutting-edge training initiative.
Under Sotunsa’s leadership, the Centre for Open Distance and e-Learning has achieved significant milestones, having trained over 100 learners in less than three years since obtaining approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to offer Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and degree programmes.
This achievement underscores the university’s dedication to providing quality education with a focus on practical, industry-relevant skills.
Moreover, Sotunsa revealed that the groundwork has been laid for developing course materials and resources for ten new undergraduate courses. These courses, ranging from nursing to other disciplines, aim to further diversify and enhance the academic offerings at Babcock University.
This collaboration not only underscores the commitment of Babcock University to staying at the forefront of educational innovation but also reinforces the importance of partnerships between academic institutions and esteemed organizations like the British Council in shaping the future of digital education.
