Children’s Day Celebration: Queens College Community Felicitates with Students amidst COVID-19

COVID-19 Pandemic poses no deterrent to celebration in the Queen’s College Community.

The Community which comprises of the School Management, Parent-Teacher Association and Old girls Association celebrates Children’s Day 2020 with her Queens.

This was done using technology via a compilation of voiced messaging from all stakeholders.

The Director/Principal, Dr. Mrs. T.F.O. Yakubu – Oyinloye in her message reminded the Queens to continue taking precautionary measures as advised by the NCDC and focus on their studies.

Queens College Old Girl (class of 1954), Lady Abigail Iyabode Awotesu, admonished them to make a difference in the world by inculcating and passing on the torch of the values learnt.

She said that they are future leaders.

Chairperson of the School Based Management Board, Barr. Yetunde Awofuwa, also wished the Queens a splendid celebration, stating that Queen’s College leads, while others follow.

The Queen’s College Old Girls Association, Vice President 1, Mrs. Modupe Afolabi, Mrs. Dayo Jalekun ( Class of 1979), Bisola George ( class of 1994), Fatima Yinusa, head girl (2017/2018) amongst others sent inspiring messages to motivate them.

Hon. Kayode Moshood Akiolu, Lagos Island II Federal Constituency and Hon Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro Eti-Osa Federal Constituency also felicitated with the Queens.

They advised them to maintain excellence by taking their studies seriously and to always pray for our country Nigeria.

Renowned Broadcaster, Funmi Omoboriwo and a journalist, Afolabi Christiana, also joined in the felicitations.

A popular Music Artist, Eedris Abdulkareem, who is also a Father To a Queen, expressed his wishes for them by rendering a special number in their honour.

Legal luminaries were not left out of the celebration. Barr. Ahmed Abass (former QCPTA Caretaker chairman), lead, while Bukola Iji, Oscar, Matthew Uche also celebrated the joy of children’s day.

Each in a unique way advised the Queens to be good representatives of the great College!

A renowned Professor of Mathematics and Director of Lagos State University, Data Integration Centre – Prof. Moses Akanbi, encouraged the Queens to continue using the various available E-Learning platforms provided by the College to stay academically engaged and updated.

Staff of the College, led by the ASCSN Chairman, Mr. Okediran, advised the Queens to remain focused and prayerful despite the impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on their lifestyle.

Mr. Oladejo Abiodun, Mrs. Okolie, Mrs. Meroyi amongst others, also rendered Goodwill messages.

PTA Chairman, Mr. Damola Adewuyi and his Vice, Mrs. Chiedu Nwokolo encouraged them not to limit their dreams, their bright future, glowing brighter as they reflect the values instilled in them as Queens to continue passing on the torch of Excellence and Greatness.

The QCPTA PRO, Mrs. Abiodun Amodu admonished the students by speaking in Yoruba language while Mrs. Maimuna Usman O, the QCPTA Treasurer spoke in Hausa language.

Mrs. Ify Nwoye, the immediate past PRO spoke in Igbo. They all prayed, encouraged and adviced the Queens to be the best and also to stay safe.

In summary, our Queens were specially prayed for, encouraged to stay focused, hard working and diligent in order to maintain high standards and record successes in all spheres of life… Fulfilling all their dreams.

The wishes were all compiled together in synergy with beautiful melodious background music, eugolising the Queens.

It was, however, shared on and sent to them via the various electronic and social media platforms at their disposal.
