Dangote University scores big as NUC grants full accreditation to 20 programmes

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to 20 academic programs at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Kano State.

The announcement was made by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai, on Wednesday.

The NUC’s rigorous evaluation covered 24 programs, of which 20 were awarded full accreditation status, signifying that they meet or exceed the commission’s stringent standards for academic excellence. The remaining four programs received interim accreditation, indicating the need for further improvements.

“This accomplishment reflects our unwavering commitment to providing high-quality education and maintaining academic excellence,” stated Yakasai. He emphasized that the accredited programs boast robust curricula, skilled faculty, adequate facilities, and significant research outputs.

The programmes that received full accreditation are diverse, spanning agriculture, engineering, technology, and education. They include:

– Agriculture
– Fisheries and Aquaculture
– Forestry and Wildlife Management
– Architecture
– Information and Communication Technology
– Automobile Technology Education
– Building Technology Education
– Computer Science Education
– Education Mathematics
– Metalwork Technology Education
– Woodwork Technology Education
– Automotive Engineering
– Water Resources and Environmental Engineering
– Quantity Surveying
– Biochemistry
– Science Laboratory Technology
– Geography
– Meteorology

Yakasai assured that the university is committed to achieving full accreditation for the remaining four programs soon.

“We are implementing strategic measures to upgrade the resources and infrastructure necessary for the programs with interim status, ensuring they meet the high standards set by the NUC,” he said.

This accreditation success is a testament to the university’s dedication to academic excellence and its continuous efforts to enhance the quality of its educational offerings.

The vice-chancellor’s statement highlights the institution’s focus on improvement and excellence, ensuring that students receive top-notch education in all accredited programmes.
