The new Global President of the Ekiti State University Alumni Association, Oluseyi Idowu, has said the body will leverage members’ collective strength, expertise and network to drive the transformative development of the institution.
Idowu spoke in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday during the inauguration of the association’s new global executive council members, who will run the body for four years.
The new council has Oluseyi Idowu (Global President), Folasade Olusegun (Global Vice President), Ige Isijola Ige (Vice President 2), Olumide Abudu (Global Secretary), Mustafa Ajadi (Assistant Secretary), Hakim (Treasurer) and Sunday Adelokiki (Legal Adviser).
Others are Blessing Adebayo (Financial Secretary), Olusola Fayemi (Technical Secretary), Muyiwa Cole (Welfare Secretary), Asetunji Aribasoye (Public Relations Officer), Ransome Sanni (Auditor), Daniel Akande (Social Secretary) and Adebayo Akinyemi (Ex-Officio).
Idowu said the alumni body, under his leadership, would “create a vibrant ecosystem that fuels growth, progress and pride in our alma mater.”
He promised the alumni body’s intervention in the institution to cement EKSU’s position as one of the best institutions of higher learning in Nigeria.
He said, “Working hand-in-hand, we will harness the collective expertise, resources and passion of our members to drive growth, development and progress.
“We will bridge the gap between the university’s management and the alumni, create synergy that benefits both parties and ultimately elevate EKSU to a new height of academic excellence, research, and infrastructural development.”
A professor of education at EKSU, Afolabi Popoola, in his lecture, lauded the alumni association for its contributions to the university’s growth and development.
Popoola, who described alumni as a source of support for the alma mater, said EKSU alumni had not been found wanting in donations and influence.
He charged the new exco to “follow the path of the outgoing exco and build on what has been done.”
The immediate-past EKSU Alumni Global President, Dipo Bamisaye, thanked the Board of Trustee members, the immediate-past exco and the alumni generally for the cooperation and support which culminated in his achievements in office.
