The Treasured Point of Light Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, has left an indelible mark on the lives of more than 300 primary and secondary school students in Gbagura, Abeokuta, Ogun State, as they gear up for the impending school resumption.
As part of their heartwarming back-to-school outreach initiative, the foundation distributed a range of essential items to these young learners, which included school bags, shoes, lunch bags, food flasks, water bottles, and a variety of stationery.
This noble endeavour is rooted in the organisation’s commitment to support and uplift children hailing from less privileged backgrounds.
The visionary leader at the helm of this initiative, Damilola Onebamhoin, the president of the foundation, expressed her satisfaction in witnessing more than 300 students benefit from these much-needed educational materials.
She underscored the critical purpose of this endeavor, citing its aim to mitigate the adverse effects of subsidy removal and the prevailing economic challenges.
Onebamhoin eloquently stated, “We remember where we came from, and as a psychologist, you know every child needs to be loved. Moreover, with school set to resume, we wish to inspire these young minds to eagerly return to their studies. It’s one thing to desire an education, but having the necessary tools can ignite a child’s enthusiasm for learning.”
In a fervent appeal to the government, she urged for the effective allocation of funds to address the pressing needs of the underprivileged in society.
Oluwaseun Lapite, a dedicated member of the foundation, shed light on the organisation’s longstanding tradition of giving back to society each year.
She acknowledged the stark reality of growing demands, a reflection of the ongoing socioeconomic challenges within the nation.
Lapite also took the opportunity to implore affluent individuals and corporate entities to join hands in the noble cause of aiding those in need within our society.
