The Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Engineering to Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi, representative of Bichi Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation. The honor was conferred during the university’s 9th convocation ceremony.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Armayau Hamisu highlighted Bichi’s extensive support for Nigerian students, noting his fully funded sponsorship for 21 postgraduate students to study engineering in Malaysia. In addition, Bichi currently sponsors 5,000 students from his constituency in various Nigerian universities and colleges.
“Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi has brought several projects to this university,” Hamisu said, “including funds for three faculties, a library, a female hostel, and an auditorium, all of which have enriched academic life here.”
To further acknowledge his support, FUDMA named its 200-capacity auditorium after Bichi. Speaking at the event, Bichi expressed gratitude for the recognition, pledging to continue advocating for better funding and competitiveness in Nigerian institutions. “I want to assure you that I will continue to do those things that made the Federal University Dutsinma recognize me for this honor,” he said, urging ongoing support for his initiatives.
The ceremony drew attendance from fellow House representatives, friends, and family members.
