FULL LIST: The Times Higher Education ranks Covenant University, Ota best varsity in Nigeria

Covenant University has been ranked above the University of Ibadan and the Federal University of Technology, Akure, as the best university in Nigeria for the second time, according to Times Higher Education‘s 2024 rating.

The Times Higher Education has again listed Covenant University in Ota, Ogun State, as the best university in Nigeria among top federal government owned and private universities in Nigeria.

THE, in its 2024 rating on Thursday, April 11, listed Covenant University, named as the best university in Nigeria in 2023, among the top 1,000 universities in the world.

The university owned by the Living Faith Church Worldwide (fondly called Winners Chapel) was placed in the 801st position in the world.

The University of Ibadan (UI) in Oyo State followed Covenant University as the second-best university in the country, while the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) in Ondo State clinched third.

THE noted: “The Times Higher World University ranking includes 1,904 universities across 108 countries and regions.

The table is based on our new WUR 3.0 methodology, which is carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across five areas; teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook.”

Other universities listed among the top ranking in Nigeria include the University of Lagos (UNILAG); University of Ilorin (UNILORIN); University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN); Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD); the University of Benin (UNIBEN) the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH); Lagos State University (LASU); and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU); among others.
