The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), a second-generation university and a prominent institution in agricultural studies in Africa, has achieved an impressive feat in the 2023 inaugural Times Higher Education’s (THE) Sub-Saharan Africa University Rankings.
FUNAAB secured second position among Nigeria’s 258 universities and ranked 26th in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Tribune Online reported that the rankings assess the top universities in sub-Saharan Africa based on various performance indicators: ‘access and fairness’, ‘Africa impact’, ‘teaching skills’, ‘student engagement’, and ‘resources and finance’.
The announcement of THE’s Sub-Saharan Africa University Rankings was made on Monday, June 26, 2023, during the organisation’s inaugural forum held in collaboration with Ashesi University in Ghana.
The rankings, developed in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, evaluate 88 universities from 17 countries across the region.
In light of this achievement, the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Professor Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, extended congratulations to the entire university community.
He expressed his hopes that this recognition would serve as a catalyst for increased dedication to duty.
