Kolade Atanseiye, a 2024 Computer Science graduate from the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), claimed second place at a prestigious digital competition organized by Bluechip Technology Company, one of Nigeria’s leading tech firms.
The event, held at the Eko Hotel in Lagos on December 2, 2024, saw Atanseiye’s AI solution shine amidst stiff competition.
His entry, an innovative AI solution designed to assess the creditworthiness of individuals in the fintech industry, earned him recognition and a N1 Million cash prize. The AI tool helps financial institutions determine a person’s eligibility for loans by analyzing their previous behaviors.
The competition drew 12,731 submissions, with 447 entrants and 237 active participants from across Nigeria. Atanseiye’s solution was chosen as the second-best among the impressive array of entries.
In a statement, Atanseiye explained how his AI solution could be integrated into a loan app system to help financial organizations accurately assess customer creditworthiness. He also credited his success to the support he received from the FUTA chapter of the Data Society of Nigeria (DSN).
“I thank DSN FUTA for their support and guidance. Their impact on my journey is deeply appreciated,” Atanseiye said, highlighting the role of DSN in shaping his growth in the tech field.
