An Abia State-born education enthusiast Chief Chimaobi Anyaso, has harped on the need to preserve the role of human educators, even as the world is evolving into the use of Artificial Intelligence in teaching.

Anyaso, who is the Founder of Chima Anyaso Foundation, in a statement to mark the 2025 anniversary of the International Day of Education, opined that AI has the power to enhance learning experiences, improve accessibility, and transform the educational system, but the role of human educators as mentors and role models to the students cannot be overemphasized.

He pointed out that the theme of the seventh anniversary of the International Day of Education, ‘AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation,’ “resonates deeply in our fast-changing technological era.”

He said, “Artificial Intelligence is revolutionizing every aspect of life, including education, and we must reflect on how to harness its potential while safeguarding the irreplaceable role of human educators.

“But we must never lose sight of the invaluable contributions of teachers/mentors who inspire creativity, foster critical thinking, and nurture the problem-solving skills essential for personal and societal growth.

“Education, at its core, is about more than information delivery; it is about shaping character, building relationships, and empowering the next generation to lead with empathy and purpose.

“As we celebrate this day, let us reaffirm our commitment to creating a future where technology and human agency coexist harmoniously.

“A future where every child, regardless of circumstance, has access to quality education that unlocks their full potential and prepares them to thrive in a dynamic world.

“Let us continue to inspire, teach, and empower. Together, we can ensure that education remains the greatest tool for building a better tomorrow.”

Anyasọ also hinted that his foundation will host a strategic mentorship training programme across Nigeria in the year 2025.

He added that the programme will expose participants to lectures on advocacy, empowerment, and various activities centered around human capacity building and development.

He added, “We extending an invitation to partners, interns, and volunteers to join the training and at the same time eagerly anticipate the dedication of prospective partners to invest in the noble cause.”
