Lagos State University (LASU) has announced an extended Christmas and New Year break following a decision made during an online Senate meeting on December 8, 2024.
The institution has temporarily suspended all academic activities, granting students the opportunity to relax and celebrate the festive season with their families.
The break begins on Monday, December 9, 2024, and will continue until January 6, 2025. Students have been encouraged to use this period to “relax, rejuvenate, and spend quality time with their families during this festive season.”
As part of this arrangement, students residing in school hostels have been directed to vacate the premises within 48 hours of the announcement. According to the statement, this measure is aimed at “ensuring the safety and security of all students and the facilities during the holiday period.”
The Students’ Union expressed warm wishes for the festive season, saying, “May this holiday season bring joy, prosperity, and renewed hope as we look forward to the upcoming academic challenges in the new year.”
Signed by LASU’s Public Relations Officer, Asikoto Olamide Mauyon, and President, Adebola Joldie Ayomide, the announcement highlights the university’s dedication to fostering a secure and celebratory environment for students during this time.
