Lighthouse University in Edo State has received official approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC), obtaining its operational license after fulfilling all the necessary requirements.
Situated in Evbuobanosa Community along the Benin-Agbor Expressway, Orhionmwon LGA, the privately-owned institution has been granted recognition by the Federal Government, as outlined in serial number 149, dated 22/2/2024.
The NUC stated, “Upon fulfillment of all requirements laid down in the Education (National Minimum Standards and Establishment of Institutions) Act, Cap. E3 Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004, the Federal Government has approved the establishment of Lighthouse University, Evbuobanosa, Edo State.”
The university is now officially registered and permitted to operate as a private educational institution in Nigeria.
The NUC’s approval encompasses three faculties, eight departments, and a total of 15 programs for Lighthouse University. These programmes span diverse fields such as mass communication, political science, management sciences, sociology, biological sciences, computer sciences, electrical and electronics engineering, and computer engineering.
Founded by the Gospel Light International Ministries (GLIM), with Felix Omobude, the former national president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), at its helm, Lighthouse University aims to be a hands-on institution providing technological and management solutions.
Additionally, it aspires to serve as a lighthouse for moral and spiritual development within the educational landscape.
