A grieving Nigerian mother, identified as Ella, has taken to social media to demand justice after her two-year-old daughter tragically died at a school in Lagos under suspicious circumstances.
In a series of emotional posts shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Ella recounted the devastating incident. She revealed that her daughter had left for school on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, but tragically never returned home alive.
“Dear Lagos State Government, our daughter of two years old went to school yesterday and did not return alive,” she wrote.
Ella alleged that the school initially claimed her daughter drowned in the swimming pool on the premises. However, she countered this narrative, stating, “They lied she drowned in the pool, but we have been able to find out that it’s electrocution, and they dropped her in the pool to look as if it was drowning.”
She also accused the school of concealing the truth from other parents. “Now, they are lying to other parents that school is closed because of maintenance instead of telling the truth. If nothing is done to close down that school, other parents may cry for their own kids attending the school,” Ella added.
Ella expressed disbelief over the safety lapses at the school, particularly regarding the pool area. “The pool has barricades. How can a child of two years climb? Please help us get justice for our baby,” she wrote.
The mother also shared that her daughter had recently celebrated her second birthday in November 2024, making the tragedy even more heart-wrenching. “She left home well for school on 15/1/2025 and never came back alive,” she said.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many users calling for the Lagos State Government to launch a thorough investigation. Concerns have been raised about the safety protocols in schools and the accountability of school management in ensuring the welfare of children.
While the Lagos State Government has yet to issue an official statement, pressure is mounting for swift action to uncover the truth behind the tragedy and ensure justice is served.
Ella’s heartfelt plea has become a rallying cry for parents and advocates, emphasizing the urgent need for stricter regulations and oversight in schools to prevent such tragedies in the future.
