The Ogun State Government’s innovative digital education initiative has received widespread commendation from the Federal Ministry of Education and allied agencies from South-West states.
The praise was highlighted during an understudy visit to Abeokuta, where representatives from the Ministries of Education of Lagos, Osun, Oyo, Ondo, and Ekiti states gathered to observe the state’s progress. The visit was facilitated by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission in collaboration with Plane International Intervention.
Mr. Adewale Adesanya, a Senior Education Officer from the Nigeria Education Management Information System at the Federal Ministry of Education, lauded the Ogun State Revitalisation Agenda (OGSERA) and its Digital Platform for Education Revitalisation (DiPER). Describing the initiative as a worthwhile venture, he noted that it had the potential to significantly advance the education sector. “This is a well-thought, effective, and all-encompassing platform,” Adesanya said, urging other states to emulate Ogun’s digital initiative.
Mr. Abiodun Oladipo, the Head of Programmes at DAWN Commission, also expressed his excitement about the homegrown solution, highlighting its comprehensive impact on the education sector. He pledged that the Commission would advocate for the adoption of similar initiatives by other states in a bid to elevate education across the region.
Furthermore, Mr. Adeyemi Adebayo, an Education Quality Specialist and Consultant for DAWN Commission, praised the initiative as a significant development for the entire African continent. “In my own assessment, it is a good thing, and I hope that every other state in the South-West will also key into it and develop their own OGSERA,” he said, adding, “It could be OYOSERA in Oyo State, LASERA in Lagos or whatever name they choose to give it, it is the way to go.”
