Nigerian billionaire and philanthropist Femi Otedola has announced a N3.7 billion donation to expand the Engineering Faculty at Augustine University, Ilara Epe, continuing his commitment to advancing education in Nigeria.
The contribution, revealed during the university’s 6th convocation ceremony, will fund the construction of a new building, expected to be completed within a year.
“I am pleased to announce the donation of the Phase 2 building for the Engineering Faculty at a cost of N3.7 billion,” Otedola stated during the event. “By God’s grace, I hope to be with you this time next year to inaugurate the completed building.”
As Chancellor of the university, Otedola has played a pivotal role in its growth. His latest donation follows an earlier contribution towards the completion of Phase 1 of the Engineering Faculty. He also pledged an additional N140 million to furnish the new facility, alongside N110 million for campus improvements, including street lights and a standby generator.
This expansion comes as Augustine University looks to accommodate its increasing student population and equip them with state-of-the-art engineering education. Otedola emphasized the institution’s mission to foster intellectual and moral excellence, with the goal of producing graduates who are both skilled and dedicated to serving society.
Otedola’s philanthropic contributions to education continue to make a lasting impact, marking a significant chapter in his long-standing support for academic institutions across Nigeria.
