Professor Florence Ajike Osanyin of the Department of Arts and Social Sciences Education, University of Lagos has been appointed as the representative of the University of Lagos on the Governing Council of the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin, Lagos State. The appointment is for a two-year period.
Professor Florence Ajike Osanyin was born on April 4, 1949 in Ijebu-Jesa. The Osun State indigene attended St. Matthew’s School ‘A’, Ijebu-jesa from 1956 to 1961, Hannah Hinderer Secondary Modern School, Ibadan from 1962 to 1964 and Ilesha Grammar School, Ilesha from 1967 to 1971.
She attended University of Ibadan where she earned a Bachelor of Education (BA. Ed) Second Class Upper in June, 1975. In 1978, she moved to the University of Lagos where she earned a Masters of Education Degree and Doctoral Degree in Childhood Education in 1988. She also holds a Diploma in Media Resource Centre for Women in Development from ILO Training Centre, Torino, Italy (1991).
Professor Osanyin’s teaching career dates back to 1975 as a Tutor at Muslim Teacher Training College, Surulere, Lagos. She joined the service of the University of Lagos as Graduate Assistant in 1978 and steadily raised through the ranks to Lecturer II in 1981, Lecturer I in 1984, Senior Lecturer in 1987, Associate Professor in 2001 and Professor in 2008.
