The Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for approving the recruitment of 1,100 primary school teachers across the state’s 18 local government areas.
A statement released on Sunday by the Director of Information and Public Relations of SUBEB, Bolu Ajijo, confirmed the governor’s approval following the completion of the recruitment process.
“As part of efforts to address critical vacancies in public primary schools, Governor Aiyedatiwa authorised the employment of the 1,100 teachers to fill existing gaps and improve the quality of education in the state.
“The governor gave the directive after the completion of the recruitment process,” the statement read.
Reacting to the development, the Executive Chairman of Ondo SUBEB, Victor Olambitan, expressed his gratitude to the governor for the approval.
He highlighted that the recruitment would address workforce shortages, particularly those caused by staff leaving the public service, and improve the pupil-to-teacher ratio in public primary schools.
“This employment will go a long way in enhancing the quality of education delivered, especially in rural and hard-to-reach areas across the state,” Olambitan added.
