UNILAG alumni association elects new exco

The University of Lagos Alumni Association has elected a new National Executive Committee to lead its affairs for the next two years.

The announcement came during the association’s Annual General Meeting held on Sunday on UNILAG campus, where reports from the search and electoral committees, chaired by Dr. John Momoh and Dr. Michael Olawale-Cole, were presented and adopted.

The newly elected officers include Mr. IfeOluwa Oyedele as President (Worldwide), Dr. Bala Yesufu as National Vice President 1, Mr. Lekan Ajisafe as National Vice President 2, Mr. Bayo Osikoya as National Secretary, and Mr. Olumide Akinola as National Assistant Secretary.

Other members of the new executive committee are Mr. Abayomi Owoeye as National Treasurer, Mr. Adeyemi Ayadi as National Internal Auditor, Mrs. Yetunde Shitu as National Financial Secretary, Prof. Olugbenga Akingbehin as National Legal Adviser, Mr. Francis Shonubi as National Social Secretary, Mrs. Funmi Falobi as National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Tope Smart, Mr. Olalekan Fatodu, Mr. Bala Abdul, and Dr. Abdul Gbadamosi as National Ex-Officio Members.

In a statement by the association’s National Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Funmi Falobi, it was noted that the tenures of the President, Vice President 1, National Publicity Secretary, and National Social Secretary were renewed, while other positions were filled with new officeholders.

In his acceptance speech, President (Worldwide), Oyedele, expressed gratitude to members for their trust and support. He called for unity and collaboration among alumni to advance the association and further contribute to the growth of their alma mater.

“Your physical presence here, as well as participation online, reflects your unwavering dedication and trust in our administration. Together, we will take this association to even greater heights,” Oyedele said.

He also extended appreciation to the search and electoral committees for their diligence in ensuring a smooth electoral process.

The AGM recorded strong participation from members both physically and virtually, reflecting the enduring spirit of unity among UNILAG alumni, often referred to as “Akokites.”
