The pioneer set of BSc. programme graduates from the Systems Engineering Department (2000 – 2005 set) represented by David Ibatereh, took center stage at the handing-over ceremony of a generous donation of equipment to the department.
The ceremony, which took place on Friday, November 10, 2023, was graced by key figures in the academic community, including the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor O. M. Sadiq. Although unable to attend in person, Professor S. O. Adeosun represented the dean admirably. The Head of Department, Professor F. O. Ogunwolu, presided over the proceedings, joined by other distinguished members of the department’s staff.
The focal point of this auspicious occasion was the presentation of a variety of equipment geared towards enhancing the teaching and learning processes within the Systems Engineering Department. These generous donations are poised to significantly impact the academic landscape, providing students with practical tools to augment their educational experience.
The equipment, carefully selected to meet the department’s specific needs, covers a spectrum of technological tools. The donors, represented by David Ibatereh and the entire pioneer set, demonstrated a commitment to advancing education and fostering an environment conducive to academic excellence.
The ceremony unfolded in two primary locations, namely the Departmental Conference Room and the office of the Head of Department. Attendees were treated to a glimpse of the sophisticated tools and technologies that will soon become integral to the department’s instructional methods. The equipment ranged from state-of-the-art computing devices to specialised engineering tools, all designed to immerse students in real-world applications of their theoretical knowledge.
The pride and joy of the event were palpable as David Ibatereh, standing tall as the representative of the pioneering BSc. programme graduates, handed over the equipment to the university. His words echoed a sentiment of gratitude and a shared commitment to the growth and development of the Systems Engineering Department.
Professor F. O. Ogunwolu, the Head of Department, expressed deep appreciation for the generosity displayed by the pioneer set. He emphasised the invaluable contribution of such donations in shaping the department’s future and equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
