UNILORIN student abducted within university premises

Moyosore Bright, a zoology student at the University of Ilorin, has became a victim of abduction over the weekend (Saturday) within the confines of the educational institution edugist has learnt.

The unsettling occurrence was made public by the spokesperson of the Kwara State police command, DSP Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi, who released a statement in Ilorin yesterday (Sunday), detailing the incident that transpired on January 26, 2024.

Revealing the circumstances surrounding the abduction, Adeyemi explained that the District Police Officer (DPO) at Tanke was alerted to the incident, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

Preliminary investigations disclosed that on the aforementioned date at approximately 1400hrs, Moyosore Bright, alongside fellow students, boarded a mini-bus (Korope) at the school terminus with the intention of reaching her hostel at Tanke.

However, she regained consciousness in a remote bush at around 1900hrs, kilometers away from Ilorin metropolis.

Remarkably, there were no visible signs of violence inflicted upon Moyosore Bright, and her mobile handset remained intact.
Nevertheless, the perpetrators made off with valuables, including a gold chain, ATM cards, and N3,000 naira. This unsettling turn of events has left both the university community and law enforcement agencies deeply concerned.

The Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, has assured the public of the commitment of the command to combat all forms of crimes and ensure the safety of the residents of Kwara State.

In a bid to involve the community in maintaining security, Commissioner Olaiya urged the public to report any suspicious activities or individuals promptly. Citizens are encouraged to contact the nearest police station or utilize emergency contact numbers, namely 07032069501 or 08125275046. This collaborative effort is crucial in creating a secure environment for all residents of Kwara State.

The abduction of Moyosore Bright within the University of Ilorin premises underscores the importance of vigilance and collective efforts in safeguarding educational institutions. As the investigation unfolds, the authorities remain dedicated to bringing the culprits to justice and reinforcing the commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
