Amos Josiah Dangut, the Head of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) National Office, unveiled the preparations for the maiden Computer Based Test (CBT) 2024 first series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates.

The exam is set to take place from January 31 to February 17.

Dangut expressed confidence in the readiness of the accredited CBT centres, emphasizing their top-notch quality, seamless operation, and user-friendly interface.

This marks the first time WAEC is deploying such a platform for the WASSCE, specifically designed for private candidates.

Highlighting the state-of-the-art facilities at the CBT-accredited centres nationwide, he assured candidates of reliable internet connectivity, standby backups, power generators, and well-trained personnel to proctor the examination.

The specially trained proctors have undergone exceptional training tailored for this unique examination.

Addressing concerns about candidates’ familiarity with computer usage, Dangut reassured the public that the process is easy and will not affect candidates’ performance.

He announced plans for a comprehensive sensitization campaign, including a Mock CBT for the WASSCE, which will be free for all participants.

The HNO emphasized the council’s commitment to a smooth examination process, with fixed power supply throughout the test, robust computer bandwidth, and trained proctors ready to attend to candidates’ needs.

He also mentioned the introduction of a video demonstration accompanying sensitization jingles to provide candidates with a hands-on experience.

As WAEC begins mass sensitization this week, candidates can anticipate a well-coordinated effort through print, electronic media, and social platforms to familiarize them with the CBT system.

Dangut encouraged candidates to participate in the mock test, ensuring they have a captivating and thrilling experience navigating the user-friendly CBT system.

Dangut advised candidates to strive for academic excellence, highlighting the importance of being well-groomed in academics as a gateway to success in various spheres of life.
