The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the receipt of an additional GHS 35 million from Ghana’s Ministry of Education to facilitate the completion of result processing for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates.
This was disclosed in a statement obtained by CABS World News correspondent on Friday December 27, 2024.
The announcement comes as the Council works to conclude scanning objective answer sheets and finalize result processing.
WAEC assured stakeholders that results are on track to be released by the end of December.
In the statement signed by John K. Kapi, Head of Public Affairs, WAEC expressed its appreciation for the funds while urging the Ministry to release the remaining balance.
“Meanwhile, the Council is appealing to the Ministry of Education to release the outstanding balance to enable it to pay Supervisors, Invigilators, script checkers, suppliers of examination materials, and meet other financial obligations,” the statement read.
WAEC reiterated its commitment to its mandate despite financial challenges, adding, “We assure stakeholders of our dedication to ensuring the smooth execution of our duties and wish everyone the best of the season.”
The timely release of results is crucial for students planning their next academic steps, and the Council’s proactive measures underline its determination to meet these expectations despite ongoing financial pressures.
