Mountain Top University Chancellor and General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, has explained the university’s commitment to introducing vocational training alongside academic courses, with the aim of producing graduates who are well-rounded and equipped to tackle society’s challenges.

Speaking during the 6th Convocation Ceremony at Prayer City, Olukoya emphasised that MTU’s goal is not just to award degrees but to empower students with practical skills that will make them self-sufficient and employers of labour.

He highlighted that vocational training, including skills such as bread making, fashion designing, and musical instrument learning, is integral to the university’s mission to create “agents of transformation.”

“Since its inception, MTU has been producing morally sound, academically excellent, and hardworking graduates. We aim to equip them with vocational skills that will make them self-sufficient, in addition to the degrees they acquire,” Olukoya said. “Our vision is to train graduates who will not only excel academically but also contribute positively to their communities and the world.”

The Chancellor noted that MTU’s approach reflected the university’s broader vision to focus on integrity, determination, and societal betterment.

He stated that the institution’s foundation in the word of God, alongside deliverance prayers, helps mold graduates into individuals who can influence lives and impact destinies.

DOlukoya also praised his wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Folashade Olukoya, for her dedication to mentoring students, especially female students, to become better women, mothers, and wives.

He further acknowledged the contributions of Prince Alex Mbata, recognising his efforts toward societal transformation.

In her address, Pastor (Mrs.) Olukoya shared her commitment to mentoring and guiding MTU students to succeed in all aspects of their lives.

She stressed the importance of preparing young people to be strong leaders and positive role models for society.

During the ceremony, the keynote speaker, Dr. Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba State, urged the graduates to discover their purpose and use their talents to solve societal problems.

“Our society needs dynamic young people like you. Embrace every opportunity with the determination to fulfill your greater purpose,” Governor Kefas stated.

The ceremony saw 378 graduates, with 50 achieving first-class honors.

The Best Graduating Student from the Department of Food Science and Technology, Ms. Oni Itunu-Oluwa, was honoured with a N2m gift from Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for her remarkable 4.98 GPA.

MTU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Elijah Adebowale Ayolabi, celebrated the academic excellence of the graduating class and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically accomplished but also equipped with the practical skills needed to drive positive change in society.
