Dr. Busayo Ajayi, the Founder of Ajayi Polytechnic in Ikere Ekiti, announced that over 700 students from the institution have been beneficiaries of its scholarship programme.
He further revealed plans to extend this offer to an additional 1000 students in the upcoming academic session. Dr. Ajayi emphasised the institution’s commitment to supporting parents with low income by providing more scholarship opportunities.
These remarks were made during the inaugural combined convocation ceremonies for five sessions and the sixth Founder’s Day celebration of the institution. The event marked the official graduation of 263 National Diploma graduates. Dr. Ajayi highlighted the school’s ongoing mission to nurture entrepreneurial-driven individuals and skilled technicians. He encouraged the graduating students to become exceptional ambassadors of the institution, urging them to dream big regardless of the challenges facing the country.
Dr. Ajayi further stated, “To ensure the realisation of our vision, we strive to equip all our students with at least one skill before they graduate. Looking back, we are immensely grateful to God for successfully achieving all our targets thus far.”
Mrs. Bosede Jegede, the Executive Secretary of the State Scholarship Board, represented the Ekiti State Government at the event. She emphasised the importance of the training received by the graduates, stating that it would greatly shape their lives and enable them to make positive contributions to Nigeria in their respective endeavors.
Dr. Bolanle Ajayi, the Acting Rector, acknowledged the significant growth of the institution in various areas, including infrastructure development, the establishment of an entrepreneurship unit, vocational programs, and the creation of the NABTEB Centre for Ordinary Level students. However, she appealed for support from philanthropists, education enthusiasts, and well-meaning Nigerians to help the polytechnic achieve its mission and vision.
