“No mock exams planned” — JUPEB Clarifies

The Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) has categorically stated that reports of a mock examination following the postponement of its 2024 test are completely unfounded.

The Registrar of the Board, Prof. Ademola Adeleke, emphasized in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos that there are no plans for such an examination.

This clarification comes on the heels of JUPEB’s decision to postpone its 2024 examination, originally slated for August 5 to August 16. The exams are now rescheduled to take place from August 19 to August 30. The postponement was attributed to security concerns in several states, particularly in light of the recent #EndBadGovernance protests that have sparked unrest across the nation.

“Our attention has been drawn to misleading information circulating regarding our 2024 examination,” Prof. Adeleke noted. “I want to state categorically that at no point did we propose or plan any mock examination following the recent postponement.”

He urged partner and affiliate universities to disregard the false information, asserting that all updates regarding the board’s examinations and academic activities are communicated through official channels. “This is fake news, and we know nothing about such information,” he added.

JUPEB, a national examinations body recognized by the Federal Government, was established by a consortium of ten partnering universities, led by the University of Lagos.

The board is tasked with conducting standardized examinations for candidates who have completed at least one year of approved coursework in various universities’ foundation and diploma programs.

Successful candidates can gain Direct Entry admissions into university courses at the 200 Level in both Nigerian and overseas institutions.
