Babcock University’s Department of Marketing and Communication hosted the 7th edition of its Youth Empowerment Programme themed: “Cultivating Excellence in Youth,” at the Amphitheatre.
The event brought together students from 20 schools in Lagos and Ogun States, with participants joining both physically and online, providing a platform for social interaction, learning, and idea exchange.
Guest speaker, Prof. Awoyemi Lawal-Arolowo emphasized the importance of resilience, adaptability, innovation, and self-belief.
“Remember, whatever you believe you can achieve, you can,” she encouraged participants.
Prof. Olugbenga Idowu, Associate Vice President of ITCT, representing the Senior Vice President, Management Services, Prof. Yacob Haliso, urged students to strive for excellence while highlighting their vital role in society.
The event featured student debates, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication.
Babcock Academy emerged as the winner, with Joy Cometh Schools, Ikorodu, and Adeola Odutola College, Ijebu-Ode, securing second and third positions, respectively.
Dr. Joshua Suleiman, Director of the Department of Marketing and Communication, presented awards to the students, as he commended their outstanding performances and confidence in delivery.
