The Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, His Lordship Dr. Stephen Dami Mamza has distributed books and school uniforms to 50 vulnerable school children and orphans in Adamawa State.

Mamzi said that his decision to extend the gesture was aimed at celebrating International Charity Day along with the vulnerable children.

While speaking at the event which was held at the Catholic Secretariat Jimeta on Saturday, Bishop Mamza said that the gesture was to celebrate the impact that Mother Teresa was known for and her life of charity which gave life to the plight of the needy.

“The beneficiaries were carefully selected from IDP camps and some host communities and this act of kindness underscores the commitment of the Catholic diocese of Yola with support for justice, peace development to education, and support for those in need,” he said.

The bishop also stated that the gesture would be a source of motivation to the children to concentrate on their education without any hindrance.

Bishop Mamza advised private organisations and wealthy individuals to emulate the lifestyle of Mother Teresa’s humanitarian heart by reaching out to the needy.

In her remarks, the Project Director of Jesuit Refugee Service, Uyioghosa Igbinigie, commended the Catholic diocese of Yola through the Justice Development and Peace Commission for the constant support to the underprivileged in the society and thus enjoined other Nigerians to always support the needy.
