Deutsche Welle (DW) has announced the opening of applications for its 2024 Multimedia Journalists Programme. DW is seeking multimedia journalists (f/m/d) for its English for Africa programming in Abuja, Nigeria; Accra, Ghana; and Nairobi, Kenya. Positions commence on November 1, 2024, or as soon as possible, under a two-year freelance contract.

Eligibility:
Applicants must have completed university studies in journalism and possess relevant professional experience in multimedia broadcasting and editorial operations. Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter/X, Facebook) for news gathering, strong digital media skills, and experience with Adobe Premiere are essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellent storytelling skills for videos and texts, and have extensive knowledge of political, economic, social, and cultural conditions in Africa, as well as international politics. Fluency in English and at least one other locally relevant language is required, while German language proficiency is advantageous.

Application process:
The application process involves submitting the required documentation through the official DW application portal. Candidates should highlight their experience in producing web videos, developing social media formats, and their ability to conduct journalistic research. The role demands the independent production of web videos, mobile reporting, and active collaboration on content and distribution strategies.
