The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is inviting applications for the 2024 Cybersecurity Hackathon, designed to unleash skills and test creativity in cybersecurity.
This Capture the Flag (CTF) competition, organized in collaboration with Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), offers a unique opportunity for both beginners and seasoned professionals to tackle real-world cybersecurity challenges.

Application process:
The ECOWAS Cybersecurity Hackathon is divided into two phases. Phase One runs from August 6 to August 31, 2024, and is an online CTF competition open to teams from all ECOWAS member states. This phase aims to identify the top team from each member state through a series of cybersecurity challenges. Phase Two takes place in person from October 14 to October 16, 2024, in Abuja, Nigeria, where the leading teams will compete to determine the top regional cybersecurity team, emphasizing cross-border collaboration and advanced skills.
