In celebration of Children’s Day 2024 in Nigeria the Amal Outreach team, led by Dr. Folake Kofo-Idowu, Managing Director of Internal Medicine, embarked on a mission to educate and inspire young minds across five schools in Lagos from May 21 to 23.
The schools visited included Holy Cross Cathedral Primary School, Tinubu Methodist Primary School, Ebute Elefun Primary School, WAS-LAT Primary and Secondary Schools, and Olowogbowo Methodist Primary School.
The initiative focused on empowering children with essential knowledge about hygiene, dental care, nutrition, and the importance of handwashing.
Dr Kofo-Idowu emphasised that instilling healthy habits early on can significantly impact children’s well-being.
In addition to educating the students, the team recognised the critical role of teachers in the educational system by offering free hypertension screenings for educators, underscoring their health’s importance.
The success of this heartwarming mission was bolstered by the generous support of UAC Foods Limited, which provided refreshments, making the experience more enjoyable for the over 2,500 pupils reached.
Kofo-Idowu expressed heartfelt gratitude to UAC Foods Limited and Oluyemi Oloyede for their unwavering commitment and dedication to the cause.
“On behalf of my team and the over 2,500 pupils with smiles last week, I extend our heartfelt gratitude,” she said.
The initiative garnered media attention, with Lagos Television covering the activities. The coverage will air during the 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. news bulletins, helping to share the joy of learning and wellness with a wider audience.
“At Amal Outreach, we believe that every child deserves a bright future filled with health, happiness, and endless possibilities. We’re grateful for the opportunity to make a difference, one school at a time,” Dr Kofo-Idowu concluded
