The Vice-Chancellor of Christopher University, Prof. Olatunji Oyelana, has advised students to be intentional about their academic and career choices, emphasizing that success requires discipline, proper planning, and self-evaluation. He urged them to prioritize their time effectively and execute their goals with precision to minimize distractions and maximize productivity.

Speaking at the university’s ninth matriculation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session, Oyelana reminded students that character is a crucial ingredient of success. He encouraged them to recognize their strengths and limitations within their environment and take charge of shaping their destinies.

“You came in here with baggage of different levels of deficiencies and strength, and these will follow you along the path of your academic and career pursuits in life. You must be intentional in making the right choices, knowing that every man is endowed with the capacity to determine his destiny and to re-shape the trajectory of his life,” he said.

He noted that students who embrace these values will be driven by determination, allowing them to exceed expectations and stand out among their peers. He also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering a conducive learning environment, highlighting its achievements in academics and infrastructure, which have positioned it as a credible alternative to public institutions.

Oyelana further disclosed ongoing efforts by the university management to expand academic programs and facilities, including the establishment of new faculties and laboratories to enhance students’ learning experiences.

In his remarks, the university’s founder, Chief Christopher Ezeh, encouraged the new students to seek guidance and mentorship from their senior colleagues. He stressed the importance of obeying the institution’s rules, stating that by doing so, they would gradually internalize values and principles that would prepare them for life beyond the university.
