Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has officially approved the 2023 scholarship program benefiting children of deceased civil servants and students living with disabilities.
This decision was announced on Saturday through a statement issued by Godfrey Enita, the executive secretary of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, in Asaba.
The scholarship initiative is set to provide crucial support to 628 children from over 200 families who have lost their parents in active service, as well as 60 students with disabilities.
This programme reflects the state government’s commitment to uplift vulnerable groups and ensure that education remains accessible to all.
Enita emphasized the importance of these scholarships, stating, “The two scholarship schemes cater to students from primary to tertiary levels.” He further elaborated on the governor’s vision, highlighting that “Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda prioritizes education as a catalyst for socio-economic development, demonstrating his commitment to educating students from Delta State, regardless of their socio-economic background.”
The approval of this scholarship program underscores Governor Oborevwori’s dedication to providing educational opportunities for all, particularly for those facing significant challenges.
As Enita aptly put it, “Thus, the governor’s approvals demonstrate his passion and commitment to educating students from Delta State, irrespective of their socio-economic background.”
