In a groundbreaking effort to promote education and ease financial burdens on families, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has officially launched the distribution of free school uniforms to 796,092 pupils across 7,092 public schools in the state.
Speaking at the launch event on Tuesday, Gov. Yusuf underscored the initiative’s significance in alleviating parents’ struggles and ensuring access to education for all children.
“The government’s commitment to quality education is evident in our efforts to train and retain personnel, as well as provide timely supplies of teaching and learning materials,” the governor stated. He emphasized that the initiative is part of broader efforts to tackle the issue of out-of-school children in Kano.
Gov. Yusuf also urged parents and guardians to prioritize their children’s education, noting that the provision of free uniforms would boost pupils’ morale and encourage regular attendance, ultimately improving the teaching and learning process.
State Commissioner for Education, Ali Makoda, also spoke at the event, praising teachers for their dedication to the government’s vision of quality education. “By prioritizing education, the state government aims to empower the next generation with the tools they need to succeed and contribute positively to society,” he said.
This initiative is seen as a significant step towards addressing educational challenges in Kano and providing support to families in need.
