The newly elected Student Union Government (SUG) and National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) executives at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, have been charged with upholding transparency and accountability in their leadership.
During the inauguration ceremony held on Monday at the Polytechnic’s main campus, Rector Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman emphasized the importance of these values for the welfare of the student body.
Congratulating the incoming executives, Prof. Usman urged them to “lead by example worthy of emulation and to be remembered for good.” He cautioned against divisive tactics and reminded them that “good governance has no colouration of religion or tribe.” Usman also commended the electoral committee for a fair and transparent election and praised the candidates who conceded for their sportsmanship.
The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Dr. Adamu Mohammed Alaji, thanked the students for their orderly conduct and expressed gratitude to the Polytechnic’s management for their support.
In her acceptance speech, SUG President Comrade Enimokanyi Oluwadamilola Janet promised to prioritize students’ welfare and called for unity, while NAKOSS President Abubakar Isah Sheriff pledged to ensure robust representation for Kogi State indigenes at the Polytechnic.
The event concluded with the administration of the oath of office and the issuance of certificates of return to the new executives.
