Kucheza Gaming, in collaboration with Ukie Digital Schoolhouse and Nintendo UK, has hosted its latest Teachers’ Ingenuity Day, a groundbreaking training program designed to introduce Lagos State public school educators to game-based learning. The event empowered 36 teachers from 24 schools in District IV, providing them with creative teaching methods to enhance computing education.

With limited access to computing devices in many schools, the initiative focused on the Playful Computing Curriculum, an award-winning, unplugged program that teaches computational thinking without requiring immediate access to a computer. The hands-on, interactive approach ensures that teachers can make STEM education more engaging and accessible for students, regardless of technological constraints.

Service Lead at Kucheza Gaming, Gbenga Folorunsho, emphasized the transformative impact of game-based learning. “Teachers are the catalysts for educational transformation, and by embracing game-based learning and digital literacy, we are equipping our teachers with the essential tools to prepare students for a technology-driven future,” he said. He also acknowledged the role of the French Embassy in Nigeria, stating, “We are grateful for the support of the French Embassy, whose sponsorship has been pivotal in making this initiative a reality.”

A key highlight of the event was the introduction of the Kucheza Teachers Track, a long-term initiative aimed at providing continuous professional development through mentorship, resources, and specialized workshops. This program is designed to sustain teacher growth and encourage the integration of digital literacy into everyday classroom practices. As a next step, selected teachers will begin implementing the Playful Computing workshops in their schools, bringing game-based learning directly to students.

The French Embassy in Nigeria reaffirmed its support for Kucheza’s Playful Computing Program, describing it as a creative initiative that allows young people to learn computing concepts by combining education and play through video games. Kucheza Gaming continues to leverage the interests of young people to help them reinterpret their passion for technology in a meaningful way.

The success of Teachers’ Ingenuity Day highlights Kucheza Gaming’s ongoing commitment to showcasing career pathways and fostering future-ready skills through play. By equipping teachers with practical knowledge and fostering international collaborations, the initiative marks a significant step in preparing Nigerian youth for the digital economy.
