The Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at Kwara State University (KWASU) held its orientation programme for newly admitted students on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, with a strong emphasis on maintaining a healthy study-life balance and prioritizing mental well-being.
Speaking at the faculty auditorium, the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Isiaka Aliagan, highlighted the significance of striking a balance between academic pursuits and personal health.
He stressed that this balance is essential for achieving academic success and personal development.
“The university experience can be overwhelming, but it is important to maintain a healthy balance between studies and personal life,” Professor Aliagan advised. “Your mental health is critical to your overall success. Seek support when you need it and use the resources available within the university.”
The orientation programme was designed to familiarize freshers with the faculty’s expectations, university regulations, and the tools needed for a smooth academic journey.
Other speakers at the event reinforced the university’s rules and regulations, ensuring that students understood the consequences of non-compliance.
They also provided a detailed overview of the university portal and its functions, equipping the new students with the knowledge to navigate their academic and administrative activities effectively.
The programme served as a platform for faculty members to interact with the new students, answering questions and addressing concerns to ensure a seamless integration into the university environment.
Professor Aliagan concluded by urging the students to make use of the available support systems within the faculty and university.
“Your success here is not just about excelling academically. It’s about growing as individuals, and we are here to guide and support you every step of the way,” he said.
